Icon of the Mérida-Teya Station: Lion

Inspired by the Lion from the heraldic shield of Mérida, focused on its face and bust. The Lion is personified in a rampant position, displaying a fierce attacking attitude, standing on its hind legs, with exposed claws and an open mouth with its curved tongue visible.

In heraldic symbology, the lion signifies being the king of the animal world due to its courage, strength, majesty, and noble warrior spirit.

It is considered that these virtues were displayed by both sides—indigenous and Spanish—during the epic conquest days of Yucatán.

Note: Not all Tren Maya services are direct. From Mérida Teya Station, trips to other stations along the Jungle and Caribbean Sea sections require a connection in Tulum Airport or Cancún.
