Mérida-Teya Station is Train Maya Station No. 15 and one of the main railway connection points in Yucatán. Although it is located in the municipality of Teya, it serves the city of Mérida and offers public transportation connecting the station with downtown Mérida and other areas of the city.
From this station, you can travel to different destinations along the Train Maya route or use Mérida as a starting point to explore Yucatán’s beaches, cenotes, archaeological sites, towns, and local communities.
Mérida

Archaeological sites to visit from Mérida
Dzibilchaltún is an ancient Maya city known for the Temple of the Seven Dolls, where an interesting light and shadow phenomenon can be observed during the equinoxes.
Acanceh is an ancient Maya city integrated into the present-day town, with a pyramid originally decorated with stucco masks and the interesting Palace of the Stuccoes.
Xcambó is a Maya archaeological site very close to the Yucatán coast, where ancient temples and plazas are surrounded by mangroves and tropical landscapes.
Mayapán was one of the most important Maya cities in Yucatán and is especially interesting because of the strong influence of Chichén Itzá visible in its architecture.

Lion
Inspired by the Lion from the heraldic shield of Mérida, focused on its face and bust. The Lion is personified in a rampant position, displaying a fierce attacking attitude, standing on its hind legs, with exposed claws and an open mouth with its curved tongue visible.
In heraldic symbology, the lion signifies being the king of the animal world due to its courage, strength, majesty, and noble warrior spirit.
It is considered that these virtues were displayed by both sides—indigenous and Spanish—during the epic conquest days of Yucatán.
How to get around from Teya-Mérida Station?
Mérida-Teya Station has two public transportation options for traveling between the station and different points in Mérida: IE-TRAM / Va y Ven and Tren Maya Conecta.
The official connections are coordinated with the arrival and departure schedules of the Tren Maya at the destinations.

Starting September 15, Tren Maya will have a new route from Mérida-Teya Station.
The route will pass through Plaza Grande (Mérida Historic Center), Paseo Montejo, Parque Santa Ana, and Parque Santiago, with service coordinated with train arrivals to facilitate passenger transportation.

Va y Ven transportation payment methods
Public transportation uses the Va y Ven payment system, which allows you to travel using a reloadable physical card or a digital ticket.
1. Va y Ven Card:
The Va y Ven card is a reloadable physical card that can be used on public transportation throughout Yucatán.
- Card cost: $30 MXN
- It can be purchased from the machines available at the Tren Maya Station.
- It can be reloaded at smart ATMs, through the official app, and at authorized establishments.
You can reload your card at establishments such as OXXO, Dunosusa, Súper Willys, and Súper Akí.
2. Va y Ven E-ticket
You can also use an e-ticket, a digital ticket that you can generate through the official Va y Ven app.
Traveler Tip
If you plan to use Va y Ven transportation when you arrive at Mérida-Teya, consider downloading the official app in advance, creating your account, and making sure you have enough balance available. This way, you can generate your e-ticket before boarding and avoid delays when leaving the station.
