What is the history of Teya?

The history of Teya dates back to the pre-Hispanic era when the area was inhabited by the Maya civilization. The Maya built several settlements in the region, including the city of Mayapán, which is located near Teya.

Hacienda Teya, situated in what is now the municipality of Teya, was founded in the 19th century and became one of the most significant haciendas in the region.
