The Jaguar’s Spots
Final
They chased him to a black sapote tree where the monkeys were waiting.
When they had the jaguar under the tree, the monkeys threw the fruits at him, staining his entire skin.
The jaguar escaped to the watering hole to bathe and remove the stains, but he realized that no matter how hard he tried, they wouldn’t come off because they were magical stains from Yum Kaax.
The jaguar roared with anger like he had never done before and threatened the monkeys and the wild boars, saying he would eat them every time he encountered them on his path.
And that’s how the jaguar got the spots that characterize it.
In Mexico, the jaguar is classified as an endangered species, and its hunting has been banned since 1987.
