Where can I buy tickets for the Tren Maya?

You can also access the official website of the Mexican government for the Maya Train, which will redirect you to the aforementioned address: https://trenmaya.gob.mx/
Physical:
Tren Maya tickets can be purchased at all Stations and additional sales points have been set up at Tourism Secretariats and plazas.

Mobile App:
The Tren Maya has a mobile app available for iOS and Android, where you can easily check and purchase tickets. Simply search for “Tren Maya” in the app store to download it and access schedules, routes, and updated service information.

What are the ticket prices offered by the Tren Maya?
The Tren Maya offers 4 types of prices:
International price:
For non-Mexican individuals.
National price:
Available to all Mexicans with official identification.
Local price:
For residents along the route of the Tren Maya with official identification.
Special price:
For students, teachers, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. (only for Mexican citizens)
Dynamic Fare Pricing:
The Tren Maya operates under a dynamic pricing system, designed to reward travelers who plan their trips in advance.
With this model, ticket prices vary depending on the purchase date: the earlier you book, the greater the discount you receive.
These are the discount stages:
- Purchases made between 6 and 15 days before travel receive an initial discount.
- If you buy your ticket between 16 and 30 days in advance, the discount is even greater.
- When purchasing 31 to 44 days ahead, you gain access to a lower price.
- And if you book more than 45 days in advance, you will enjoy the best available fare.

Which types of services does the Tren Maya offer?
Tourist class ticket
- 4 seats per row.
- Applies for Local Price.
- Applies for Special Price.
Premier class ticket
- Wider seats.
- 3 seats per row.
The Special Price ticket is limited to a certain quantity per train.
Important considerations before purchasing your Tren Maya ticket
When planning your trip, please note that the most popular destinations tend to have a greater number of connections between stations and tourist spots. However, it’s important to consider that some less popular destinations may have limited connectivity.
Terms and Conditions of the Tren Maya
If you plan to travel on the Tren Maya, it is important to be aware of its terms and conditions to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience. Below are the key points regarding Tren Maya tickets:
✅ Mandatory Identification: International passengers must present their passport, migration document, or consular registration certificate to purchase an international ticket. If you choose a national ticket, a Mexican voter ID will be required, as residency or permanent documents are not valid for this purchase. For minors, it is important to present their CURP.
✅ Traveler’s Insurance Included: The ticket covers medical and funeral expenses in the event of a railway accident.
✅ Valid and Non-Transferable Ticket: Tickets are personal and non-transferable. They must be kept for any clarification. Boarding without a ticket is not allowed.
✅ Allowed Luggage: One suitcase up to 40 x 25 x 55 cm, weighing no more than 10 kg, plus a carry-on bag. Checked baggage is not allowed, nor are prohibited items such as weapons, hazardous substances, or food and beverages (except for medical reasons or infant needs). Items exceeding the weight and/or size limits will incur an additional fee determined by the company.
✅ Changes and Cancellations Policy: No refunds for unused tickets. Changes must be requested at least 48 hours in advance.
✅ Pets / Companion Animals
The transportation of pets is allowed, including dogs, cats, hamsters, and rabbits, under the following conditions: pets must weigh up to 10 kg and travel in a carrier (maximum size 60x35x35 cm), placed at the passenger’s feet or lap, without occupying a seat. Only one pet per passenger is allowed, and they must remain under control at all times.
Requirements:
- Signed liability waiver (Form CR-CMZ-001).
- Valid veterinary documents and vaccination record.
- No sick or nursing animals are allowed.
- Aggressive dogs must wear a muzzle.
- Pets are not allowed in the restaurant area (except service animals).
- Every pet must be documented prior to boarding (60 minutes in advance).
Service and support animals may travel in direct contact with the passenger and must wear an identification tag and leash at all times. The passenger is responsible for any damage their animal may cause to the train, facilities, or other passengers.
✅Bicycle Transport
Each passenger may bring one bicycle, with a maximum of 6 bicycles per train (2 per car). Bicycles must be in a travel bag, with pedals removed and the handlebar turned 90°, from boarding until exiting the train.
They must be placed in designated areas, without blocking luggage space, aisles, or seats. Transport is subject to space availability. If a bicycle cannot be accommodated due to train occupancy, the passenger may take another train.
✅ Prohibitions: Smoking, consuming alcohol in public view, aggressive behavior towards staff, and damage to facilities are strictly prohibited.
